The following represents an accurate summary of the most recent proposals presented during bargaining sessions between the Washington County Teachers Association and the Board of Education.

Salary
  • 8% plus step
  • Add salary schedule for 210 day teachers
  • Add a 21st step
  • Two weeks of mandatory professional development (undefined) and extension of the work year for staff
  • 7% plus step
  • Critical shortage recruitment and  retainment” (i.e. retention) incentive   (undefined)
  • Critical shortage sabbatical (undefined)
Voluntary Transfers
  • Lengthen current transfer process by 30, not 45 days (note error in Board’s release)
  • Shorten current transfer process by 45 days (cutoff by May 1 instead of June 15 (current))
  • Extend posting window to ten (10) work days
Extra PayFor Professional Duties
  • $35.00 fee for any work beyond the contractual workday
  • Equalize payment for all unit members who work beyond the contractual workday
  • Nothing. (offer for 5% pay increase withdrawn on February 5, 2007)
Tuition Reimbursement
  • Full tuition reimbursement for all submitted credits up to nine (9) credit hours per year
  • Credit hour rate of four colleges as an indexed amount
  • Establish course and program eligibility
  • Allow salary adjustments for program completion as of February 1st, July 1st, and September 1st.
  • $294 per graduate credit hour
  • Available to all bargaining unit members
  • 9 credit limit per year with removal of current restriction for number of courses allowed for reimbursement each semester
  • Timeline for reimbursement application (45 days)
Health Insurance
  • Establish a no-cost Health Benefits Committee
  • Protection of current Board contributions to retiree health premiums
  • Provide 100% vision insurance, up to $2,000 for dental and up to $2,500 for orthodontic coverage
  • Nothing. (proposal withdrawn on February 5, 2007)
